Future Leaders
The Hemophilia Council of California’s (HCC’s) Future Leaders Program provides leadership training and advocacy tools for teens and young adults affected by bleeding disorders. Leading up to annual Legislative Day, Future Leaders gain understanding and skills on their role in the government process, insurance and programs that support care, educational opportunities, and how to be an effective advocate. Participants hear from statewide and national healthcare leaders, learn self-reliance, connect with their peers, meet with legislators at the State Capitol, have fun and find inspiration to share their voice where it matters most.
Applications For The 2024 Future Leaders Program Are Now Open!
HCC’s Future Leaders Program provides leadership training and develops advocacy skills for teens affected by bleeding disorders. Leading up to Legislative Day on March 18 they find out more about their role in the government process.
Future Leaders attend an in person pre-Legislative Day program on March 16 and 17 where they learn how to tell their stories to legislators, advocate for themselves and their families, and take part in leadership and team building activities. Most importantly, teens learn about the legislative process and how it affects them.
During Legislative Day, Future Leaders take a lead role in legislative meetings and advocate for important legislation that affects them at the State level.
On the morning of March 19 before leaving Sacramento, Future Leaders gather and share their Legislative Day experiences and discuss how to keep advocating for the rest of the year.
